Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

We strongly believe we are all part of a big family, composed by our customers, workers and their families, suppliers and the local community in general. For that reason, for us it is very important to take care of the communities where we operate and of course of our workers and their families, so we have developed a strong CSR program with big participation from the workers, fishermen, local schools and authorities.

The first point is to take care of the sustainability of the resources we work with, having special attention to all the regulations that protect these resources, and encouraging our suppliers to work in the same way. The main regulations to protect the sustainability both of King Crab and Snow are:

Fishery is closed during a long period every year, taking care of the spawning.
Is not allowed females catching.
There is a minimum size for each of kind of crab to be caught.

In order to preserve the environment, we have taken recycling iniciatives in our facilities, donated recycling containers to the community and fishermen, organized and participated in cleanning the coastal borders and beaches.
To help the communities where we are located, we have made donations to Institutions for people with disabilities, elderly homes, Firemen, schools, sports events, etc.
To improve the standard of living, we have made improvements in local parks, schools among others.
Bakkavor Chile has been recognized by the Porvenir’s local council as the “Outstanding company of the year 2019” for the permanent great contibution to the community. Also has been deseignated as one of the “Best Managed Companies 2019” by Deloitte, Santander Bank and Adolfo Ibañez University.
